No idea but at least fellow racers will no longer be jealous of my [cough] physique

The Yeti skinsuit was retired after MM08 - it's eaten dirt at least one time too many and won't survive another wash

What a load of tosh ... How can they enforce fashion??

I have to say Kev ... If I looked behind me on the trails and see you coming it would scare the crap outta me!! ha.ha

I can see Rachel's point, however must point out that at the World Champs they all wear skin suits. The Mojo boys raced at Ft Bill in suits made of Speed Skiers suit material and this raised a lot of eyebrows.

Apparently it doesn't 'fit' into a 'cool' sport as downhill racing is. I think it's all bollocks really......

There's an iconic photo of Palmer coming down Mammoth wearing a skin suit and it just looks so ******* hardcore. This is an image lead rule, which is totally wrong. It should be down to the individual rider's choice at the time over what to wear for racing in.

As for neck protection and all that, yes in some respects I agree, however neck braces cost a shit load and not everyone can/will be able to afford them. Some of the new rules smacks of Nanny State to me as well.

I like this comment by somebody in the comments there

So its OK for UCI to send roadies down decents reaching speeds over 100 kmh on occasion, or fighting in a sprit at speeds above 65 kmh with no protection whatsoever (besides helmet), but when it comes down to DH, no pro is trusted to make its own judgement on the course and his abilities? Don't make sense to me.

Makes sense to me

a similar pic of tomac at mammoth in one was what drew me to dh originally.
surely with all the body position changes and movement through absorbing bumps a skin suit cant make THAT much difference
