Tyre direction

I have just bough a Clockwork. It has markings on the tyres which I am a little unsure of and indeed wonder if they are fitted correctly. Google throws up mixed messages.
The following shows the tyres as fitted and the markings.
Both fase the same way, and rotate forwards towards the word Front

the one on the front needs to rotate towards the arrow next to the word "front", and the rear tyre needs to rotate towards the arrow next to the word "rear" if that makes sense

So, looking at the top photo, the front tyre wants to rotate clockwise, and the rear one wants to rotate anticlock? This means the rear is on the wrong way around

They look like Tioga Psychos, but never seen them in that colour.
It reminds me mine BMX i had as schoolboy, I had BLUE tyres :)

During the war...it wasn't unusual for people to use the same tyre but just turn it the other way when fitting it on the back

In the military when deployed on Op's we still turn around our shreddies to get extended useage, infact many military applications can be reversed :)

Sorry Digressing on the thread.........

Erm, nice yellow Kendas 8)

In general a chevron pattern like that can be used for front and rear when run in opposite directions.

A very basic font based diagram:

:R--F:
:>--<:

With that config the rear tire's backward chevron design gets grip up hills and under pedaling force. Going into a corner the front tire's forward chevron design allows the tire to hook up with the dirt and maintain some stability and bite.

The tread is very similar to a Psycho. Did Kenda use the original Tioga Psycho molds for this tire? Thought I might have read that somewhere. I think the Panaracer Smoke molds are gone forever but the Psycho's used the original mold... not sure on that.

Psycho's were OK - but I don't know that they were ever great as either F or R tires. The butterscotch ones sure were pretty though. I enjoyed them BITD.
