Orange 71 - The cable idea makes perfect sense, thanks for the picture though! A old road brake cable with the pear end would be very neat.

MaxP - Very nice work. I can see my winter evenings will be full now! (goes off to find the screw fix catalogue and works out how to get power in his shed )

PS, that cannot be the original finish on your Clockwork can it?? Looks really nice!

pear end - yes that's what I've used - bit neater than the barrel shaped one.

Somebody here even used an old spoon for a tensioner!! (quick search under 'spoon' should find it!)

Yep, my Orange is all untouched since I bought it new in late '91

The Pauls is designed to swing so you can change front geears.
Been thinking about doing it myself.
