Try to avoid built in Freeview tuners if you can, they are not very good (for the UK anyway).

The Freeview built in to Panasonic LCD (37") is much better than my boxes or even computer one. The Freesat is a bonus as well but err not got a dish up yet.

Thats what I've got, 37" Panasonic. Freeview works fine, better than the old box we sold when we upgraded.

Having built in Freesat is even better, and a bonus being the previous owners of our house left their old dish up so we just had it recabled and away we go! 8)

and you'll be close to theBelmont tower unlike us poor folk up in Hull on the outer reaches of it... Come cloud or hot days we say goodbye to a few Muliplexes (aka channels). Roll on 2011 when Analogue is dropped I say.

personally the bigger the TV the better off you are with Plasma, seen lots of big LCDs and they just aren't as good as Plasmas

My brother 46" Series 8 Samsung LED LCD is definitely better than my father in laws 42" Panny Viera plasma. They both are easily better than my 37" Tosh conventional LCD. Sharp are now producing LED LCD panels and they are quite nice too, not as nice as Samsungs but as good as the Panasonic Plasmas, they are a lot cheaper than Samsungs and comparable in price to Panasonic Plasmas at ~40" it's a difficult choice.

Yup, you can see it from upstairs at my place! Bad weather does still effect us a little bit, and buses/trucks passing by

buy tv.
throw out the window.
put box on the wall.
call it art.
retire.

I have a 42" Panasonic Plasma.

Stunning in HD from a 13' viewing distance which is probably too far a recommended viewing distance for 42" in HD.
Was shocked how poor it looked with SD material after my 32" CRT. The playstation 2 is terrible and just not used anymore on the plasma.

My plasma is much brighter and clearer than my friends Pana 32" LCD. The LCD suffers more when it comes to viewing angle.
The plasma suffers more with high contrast banding in certain scenes.
The plasma has better blacks and whites.
The plasma cooling fans are inaudible, at most very very quiet.
The LCD cope better with fast motion in scenes.

Best addition to my TV was the Playstation 3 via HDMI, brilliant picture and upscaling from DVD, BD and even half VGA DivX.

I'm used to high res PC screens and am very picky about resolution and colour. Then again there's still nowt much on TV and we're probably in the age of replacing tellys every 5 years anyway.

I just paid a visit to the local Mediamarkt
I was impressed by the 47" Philips LED , and also the cinema display 21:9
The guy told me that i should wait for 1,5 months because then all 3d tv's are in

pricewise the 21:9 philips was 3999,00 euro, which is still allot of money but still a 3rd of the price i paid a few years back for my Thomson,..now i can buy a Merlin Newsboy with that ;)

we got a 52" lg had it for a couple of years

theres still nothing worth watching on it tho
