Tubeless compatability question....?

yeah you can use tubes, i have a set of sls and xls and between the 2 sets i've only ridden them once as tubless. They burped on me and i had to put a tube in since then all four wheels have tubes. Its not all itsa cracked up to be.

LOL..

This is where ignorance is bliss. If it make you feel better a Panaracer Dart Magic with conventional tube fit and inflates on your front rim no problem with removing the valve like we did earlier. I tried the front cross max on the Bonti for 10 minutes to see what it looked like and did'nt even think about the compatibility factor of UST to conventinal tyres.

Retro closure...LOL.

Off out to buy some Presta tubes now. :D

Conventional tyres with tubes definitely works on those wheels as that's what I used and had no problems at all. Tyres were tightish to fit but no worse than other tyre/rim fitting

Ride on

I think the label is to remind people that just because you’ve got a tubeless rim doesn’t mean you can run tubeless with a conventional tyre, as it won’t hold air. Not without a Stan’s system anyway, and ironically a Stan’s tubeless system works better with a normal rim than with a tubeless rim. And as Chris says, even if you don’t use a Stan’s system, you still need Stan’s sealant to deal with thorns. So it’s all quite straightforward really.

tubeless Tires

I have been using tubeless tires for a year and a half with NO FLATS. I carry a tube in case of a flat, but haven't had to use it. The other advantage is no 100-180 gram tube to lug along in the tire.

Yeah you can use normal tyres and tubes on UST rims as I did with my Bonty rims although the previous owner of wheels commented on an increase in pinch flats at low pressures. They've normally got a rimstrip built in to seal round the spokes that's all...

I decided to run full UST for the first time on the Cannock ride and it did feel "different" in a better way...Bar stewards to fit UST tyres though. Reckon I spent an hour on them !!!

Toobliness

Main advantage is the fact you can run very low pressures with no pinch flats and thorns generally don't result in flats either! But despite what folks say, specific tubeless tyres are a lot heavier as they have much thicker sidewalls to prevent rolling/popping off the rim with the lower pressures. The alternative is to run something like Stans no tubes in standard tyres, but you cant run 20-28 psi as they'll pop or roll off the rim.
The internal rim tapes are quite a bit heavier too. I usually run a 450gram tyre, the equivalent tubeless, same profile section would be at least 650 with some up to 800. I personally run Latex inner tubes that weigh only 100gram and are very thorn resistant. Tubeless have a lot of advantages, but on the pro circuit are still less than 40 percent usage, despite being around for a while. High weight is the reson why, also the liquid latex sloshing about(even tho its only a small amount) in the tube can have a strange effects on handling.
