trying to identify value

Hi there.
I have this GT Mountain Bike I have had since new, I am trying to identfy the model and year, and if it has any real value. Its taking up space so would be keen to move it on.

What country are you in? (I'm guessing perhaps New Zealand?) I'm afraid few, if any, of us will be intimate with the used bike market over there.

The year is 1998, give or take a year either side of that.

I’d guess a ‘97. It certainly not worth nothing. Some decent XT bits which have a readily available market value. As a whole bike, I would say maybe £300.

If it was me, I would spend the weekend with some metal polish, bringing the frame and cranks to a mirror shine. Might get a bit more than the above. Might even decide to keep it and become a denizen of these unsavoury parts..
