Hi, I tried this in Wanted but not sure how many people look at those threads.... does anyone have a rear mech alignment tool I can loan for an evening please? My mech hanger has been pressed towards the frame and needs to be bent back to allow the wheel to fit.

Many thanks,

Lee.

I needed one and a member (can't remember who) kindly let me pop over to his in Fleet, off the M3 near Camberley and did it for me while I waited - you may get lucky!! :D

If you get desperate - there was an article somewhere about straightening a rear mech hangar using a traditional threaded axle front wheel (or might have been a rear wheel... :? ), the axle is the same size as the mech bolt and you use the rim to guide you when the mech hanger is straight.

I'd take it to a shop.

It's too easy to convince yourself that everything is one way out or another with all the methods that rely on you using your judgement.

A shop with the proper tool shouldn't charge more than £10 to do this. Just make sure they use a hanger alignment tool and not an adjustable spanner.
