Trek Y3

These came to the market in 1997, I have a Y3 that I have rebuilt that dates from either 1997 or 1998. Where should I post? Is a bike that has a production run pre 1998 & finishes post 1998 still considered 'retro' on this forum?

One other thing, I've been reading threads on this site for a good few months now & have never seen the Y3 or any of the Trek Y frame bikes mentioned, why is that?

I don't think there's a vast number of them around, probably for several reasons eg... they were pretty expensive when new and therefore may not have sold in any great numbers, they're made by Trek (so maybe not as "fashionable" or desirable as some other bikes), they're on the cusp of being a Retrobike ie 1997/8, being made of carbon they broke (I have no proof of this however ).

I think you're confusing the Y33 with the Y3; the Y33 was carbon (as was the Y22), whereas the Y3 was 6061 aluminium. The Y3 was a fair bit cheaper than the earlier carbon versions.

I've got a Y3, a blue one, still has a cantibrake hanger stop on the rear triangle which either means its an early example or the welder hadn't been told to stop adding them
Currently not built as pivot bolt has seized and swing arm wont swing but I'm going to get that sorted soon.
UST framed bikes are not generally liked but i'm on of those that do and I greatly admired Trek/Klein/Gary Fisher UST bikes BITD

I had a few rides on a Trek Y33 back in '95/96, and I really liked it for all day cross-country. With a Judy and full M900 they looked really clean as well.
