Any thoughts or info on it? the seller wasnt too descriptive when I bought it but seems a genuine chap!

From what I can find, its a singletrack model, and the colours make me think 1992 era.

Looks to be original with some period rock shocks and what appears to be a blue ano use seat post.

Retro enough or just pants?

Looking good.

Very nice bikes to ride, perhaps a tad heavier than many other steel from the day but nice and solid feeling - especially the back end.

A 990 from that era should be mostly XT and forks are of the time I would say.

I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more when you get it 8)

sorry!

but very cheap and very badly advertised! It's going to end up as my gf's hack! (once I have relieved it of some goodies or decided i prefer it to my kona)

I think I just read a review of it in a 1992 MBA, it came with a Trek marketed Showa fork.

The fork impressed MBA but raised the bar too much so they suggested the bike was in desperate need of a 0 degree stem, even though the bar was well under the seat line IMHO lol, I gues in those days every rider was a Norba racer in their mind.

Here it is BTW: http://www.lancele.com/BikeGear/1992_Trek_990.htm

(He is wrong in asuming the fork is a rebranded RS1, it is not and if you look closely you can see it very clear).

I'm glad it's gone to good home and it will be used!
I like the fact the seller descibed it as "at least 8 years old"

Hi mate, are you the chap who won my 990 on ebay and never showed ??
same photo, same green house, same tomatoe plants ??

Bike now with me, collected yesterday - very nice. I wonder if Mr Mint-Sauce makes a habit of this - seller v.nice genuine bloke - understandably a bit miffed at being stiffed...... :x

I would have had that too. Remind me though where was it? It's no longer in my past ebay watch list.
