Possibly 20 years old but kept in storage for most of that time so is in original condition apart from a gearshift change from thumb lever to SRAM Gripshift MRX Comp.

The components group is SHIMANO: Brakes Deore DX. Front and Rear DerailleurDeore XT. The wheels are Matrix Single Track ATB Comp 26" Heat Treated. The frame is True Temper OX Comp II. Chromoly Double Butted Frame Tubes.

It is likely that the buyer will change the seat and tyres because though they are serviceable, they are aged a bit.

I am too old now (75) and my knees can't take it so it has to go. I haven't a clue how much its worth. Can you please give me a clue.

I know what youre thinking. I paid £ 350 for it in 1998 and it is splendid condition so like a 60s ferarri or good bottle of champagne it will have apprectiated and be wortb four grand.

Hate to burst your bubble but unless it is rare or has history i.e. raced by a top mtb raver, my estimaye is £ 100-150.

... and there is one on ebay for £130 ono...

His reply may have been robust, but it's fairly accurate: a LOT of people come on here for valuations or to sell their bikes. This without putting anything into the community, or reading the rules ( not saying you didn't but almost all don't ) Their first post being "How much" the second being either disappointment or the firm belief that those giving the valuations are doing their best to cheat them of some valuable family heirloom.
Frankly the best way of valuing a bike is to look at completed auctions on Ebay, as anything is worth only what people are willing to pay. Ebay is an excellent indicator of secondary market value.

Your reply to him, calling him a troll is unnecessary and inaccurate. OGF has been a member of the forum for some time and has contributed in the way of advice and information. Not liking the way you get that information may be the price of it.

I too ( as I assume you are ) am very keen on good manners, but some people's communication styles are different, they vary. I am sure OGF was trying to be jokey and break what most people consider bad news in a friendly way. Perhaps you should consider giving people the benefit of the doubt, especially when you want something from them.

This is your first time here? so you don't see it but we get a lot of people join just to sell a bike never to be seen again. They offer nothing to the community.

Even when we get these chancers, most are polite and are appreciative of the extra information that gives basis to the suggested quesstimate. It gives good reasons to it's possible price as was pointed out , there are other similar bikes for sale and where.

If you took offence then the fault was yours. The bike is around the price mentioned if you get the right buyer however with no pics I would value it closer £80-100
