Townsend Colorado - Year Unknown - 1993?

I’m aware this won’t be to everyone’s liking but someone may be interested?

A couple of weeks ago I remembered a lad in my street having one of these bikes in the mid nineties. I really wanted this bike at the time. I was interested to see the bike again so I searched Google. It just so happened there was one for sale locally for £30.

I picked it up on New Year’s Eve.

The plan is to simply strip it, clean it, lubricate and assemble in the summer.

Thinking back it must be early nineties as I remember getting a Carrera in '93 a year or two after first seeing this bike?

I want to replace the seat clamp with an earlier style and also source a round rear reflector with holder.

Does anyone know if the 'bullhorn' grips are still available the same as what's on the bike?

As far as I know grips are available.

Hi, the Altus C10 as used at this bike is from 1993
https://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery...ive/Catalogues/1993/1993+-+ALTUS+C10.jpg.htmlmaybe helpful to clarify the age of the Bike, so it fits to your estimate.

The group and used components are to me also a bit the downside of this nice Bike, pretty heavy and crappy stuff unfortunately.
If you want to keep and and also have fun with it, i personally might look for another cheap bike with better components and wheelsets, maybe to swap-over some parts.

Thanks for that... I must have got my Carrera in 94/95 ish then (I can't remember the model but it was new out and was silver and a pinky/purple colour with a flex-stem (not Girvin)).

I have no intention of upgrading any parts on the bike I want to keep it original.

So until today I hadn’t touched this. It’s a nice day here so I inflated the tyres, gave it a once over, quick lube and a wipe and I’m currently on my first ride.

It rides really well (for me).

The shifters are gummed up but are starting to work after plenty of GT85.
The brakes are surprisingly okay.
I would like to replace the grips and refurbish the seat post and also replace that nasty looking QR with an early Shimano one.
