The handle slides along so you do get plenty of leverage. To help matters further you can use an extension bar of some description (frame tube, seatpin, large ring spanner...) or even stand on it.

To put your mind at rest, TGR, I can confirm from personal experience that the tools described in my post and evident in my avatar will fit a Shimano 7400 Bottom Bracket..
..mine's a pint of bitter, real bitter, mind you, not Watneys Red Barrel or whatever is the non-retro equivalent!

Thanks for the update. Slight problems with the beer - we really only do Guinness and lager type beer - Harp, Tennents etc I will have to do some research as there must be pub locally which does bitter... leave that with me!
