You know the old adage....
If its too good to be true it probably is
Well...lets hope this proves the saying wrong.

Do you read about the Fine Wine Clearance?

www.winesurplus.co.uk

The list is amazing...and very very cheap.

So, what did I buy today?

One case of the following:-

1997 Rauzin Segla 2eme Cru Classe Margaux ...
...which worked out at about £7.50 bottle. Not a great year, but not a disaster either and perfect for drinking now.

2006 Batailley Pauillac
Come in at about £8 bottle.
Superb Pauillac...good year...one for keeping (yeh, right)

2001 Alter Ego Margaux
The 2nd wine of Palmer, itself considered a super 2nd
Comes in at £12.50 bottle   mad price!

2008 Meursault......okay. only a village Meursault but from Leflaive, and coming in at £7 bottle!

There was something else, forgotton what it was.

There are also some superb Chateauneufs and Burgundies etc

If they turn up...the deal of the century.

Fill your boots

I'm one of those with taste buds ruined by years of tat and just cant tell whats supposed to be a good wine...

link doesnt work for me .

One of the top restaurant in paris was selling half of their cellar last month , all went at auction .

My mrs will only drink jp chenet or stowells merlot. Can you recommend anything decent i could buy her as a treat?

Good deals there HB
When I lived in Spain I was paying about 7euro for a pretty decent bottle of '98 Rioja, yum yum and 4 euro would get you a very nice bottle. The cheapest I saw was 30cent for a carton of wine (that's probably the stuff they export, but kids buy it there and mix it with coca cola, don't knock it till you tried it!!)
Those crafty Spaniards keep all the good wine and cava to themselves and export the tat.
We had a company function welcoming all the newbies when I first started, the wine that came out was sublime, no idea what it was, and then when it came to the cava  I don't think i'll ever be able to afford whatever they served. Made me completely rethink what I thought about Spanish cava and why does champagne have the good reputation it does when it's just overpriced tat, makes me think back to a comment Alonso made a few years ago along the lines, if I keep winning I want Spanish Cava and not Champagne on the podium
