To shim, or not to shim.........

Morning all

I have a mid 80's Raleigh bike, with a what I measured at 25.4mm diameter seat post.

I have purchased (from Lazarus, on here) a gorgeous Campagnolo 25mm seatpost.

There is, perhaps obviously, a small amount of movement when I insert the new seat post into the seat tube. Can I get a shim of 0.4mm? Or do I just tighten the seat tube until it holds? Or, do I do a Blue Peter stylee type solution and fabricate something myself, possibly out of a used bean tin. Seriously! I'm guessing that the thickness of a bean tin would be aboiut the required thickness...........

Thanks Hamster

You'll be pleased with it when it arrives; I've used one of those USE ones in the past and it's a good product. Slightly beefier collar at the top stops it falling down into the seat tube, which I have done with home-made seatpost shims in the past!

Hi Jackal :-) Sorry to hear the post wasn't the right size, but pleased you have overcome the obstacle :-) Have to confess I'm not familar with a 25.4mm until now. 26mm upwards is all I've encountered to date. My best to you, yours Laz.
