keep as is, nail polish remover will get the sticky stuff off and the dent will be fine don't worry- frame saver is a very good investment too

u could get the frame filled at argos cycles....but id just keep it the way it is...

stripped the bike down today to just the frame and noticed quite a few pits and rust surface rust patches. i don't want to go to all the trouble of refurbing it (spent currently at nearly £250) for it to fall to bits.

if i have it resprayed - say at armourtex - would that sort the surface rust?

Re coating

Sure will, they will vapour blast or glass bead blast it down to bare metal then powder coat it, as it's not a fancy original paint like some of the Gt's of that era were, I would just get it done in a nice bright colour, with new decals.

The painting is now on hold with the worrying diagnosis from about 4 lbs's. The Karakoram is dangerous. Rear drop out has cracks in. Lbs think it's a new dropout braze job and therefore cost prohibitive.
