Stupid question, I expect. but does it matter that one lock ring is cracked? Does it make any difference at all to the security, strength etc?

TBH I really don't know. Mentioned it to the chap I bought it from but he never got back to me. I have never used one of these sort of BBs before.

I think the lock rings just positions the BB to give the correct offset. With one on each side it should be pretty secure, but would need to be checked regularly I would think.
