Titanium frame repair in UK

Has anybody used Enigma for disc mounts, thinking of getting one on the Hei Hei?

Or any other recommendations would be welcome.

My old Hei Hei had one put on by Ti sports, proper job, but I don't think they do them anymore and they're in the US, I need the UK really.

Thanks

Cass

I am sorry I did not see this issue before, I guess it came up while I was away.

I can offer this service if it is needed, on a limited and a case by case basis.

To the OP, you can of course dress the weld you have been left with to improve its cosmetic appearance, however it will be difficult to work being Titanium.

To REKIBorter, you mentioned the weld penetrated all the way into the BB area, was it a full penetration keyhole weld? Is there any chance of a shot of the underbead?

Can either the OP or REKIBorter tell me anything about the parameters or set up your repairers used? e.g. was it Tig or PAW or..., what shielding gas was used, filler wire or autogenous welds, etc, etc...

Cheers

Thank you very much. It's just professional curisotiy so no rush or anything. But please use your macro settings

I am guessing it was a TIG weld and so am surprised it has penetrated fully. I look forward to seeing your results.

Cheers

It has not penetrated fully, you can see the line of the weld on the inside of the BB shell

Then what color is it on the inside? If it is anything than silver or even shiny yellow, then it was not purged either.

I see now. It cracked against the threads, so weld penetration to the inside would ruin them.

The blueish/yellowish color means oxygen was allowed get absorbed in the surface. I would bet it was not purged. Maybe they made a judgement in favor of saving some money as the melt did not go thru.

Did they say they purged it?

Seemed as good a thread as any to post a repair. Seat tube had started to crack immediately below the insert. Dunno why as there was plenty of seat post in the frame.

Vernon Barker cycles covered it and continued it around the rest of the tube just in case. Turnaround was a just over a week (including posting there and back)
