Madjh,
Each person is entitiled to their own opinion, however, there have been numerous threads not only here but on other mtb forums dealing with the poor material and fabrication of Chi-Ti parts, many ending in catastrophic accidents due to failures.
Knowing the Asian bicycle liason for the US personally, I've got qualified opinions on the materials, prepartation, and fabrication techniques utilized. The insights are quite disturbing. I personally would not put anyone I cared about on one of these products, and that includes those I know through the message boards.
Unfortunately, the blind conviction that if media is saying it is ok, it must be, is a real problem with our industry. A lack of knowledge leads to inferior products as there is no market accountability.
This is why so many Ti products coming from the far east are not made of the alloyed material they are advertised as, Chi-carbon is really fiberglass with one carbon top layer, and store front designers, like the one displayed, flood the market with cheap parts for a few years before closing shop and avoiding the legal tussels.
So, are the Yeti's and Santa Cruz's you mention crap...take a hard look at who is building your bike BEFORE you bomb down a hill at 40mph. The matter of trust in fabrication is up to you...how educated is the consumer?
cheers,
rody
