Titanium and Scotchbrite

I would like to make my ti frame as new again. Most manufacturers (Merlin, Seven etc) advise to use Scotchbrite. There are many different kinds of Scotchbrite pads and sponges.

I bought the "Heavy Duty Scouring Pad", which is green. Is that the right one, or is that too harsh?

I think there are different grades in green. They don't make a great deal of difference on ti, but the fine will take you a long time to get anything out. Honestly, give it a try, any synthetic scotchbrite doesn't do much without a bit of elbow grease.

I stripped, sanded, and scotchbrited a tinbred, and the finish was great, Takes a lot of work, and hard part is keeping the orientation of 'scratches' when rubbing if thats inportant to you

Autosol and a soft rag, works a treat.

If you can be bothered to take the time, scotchbrite it through the different grades, grey is the finest then go over it with cutting paste. You should be able to remove almost all witness marks. It will take a pretty long time to get the full finish though.

@gump: I started with a green Scotchbrite pad today and the result is remarkable. Within the hour the frame looked a lot better already. I think the final finishing touch will be done on saturday with a bit of daylight to check on the directions of the applied scratches. It starts to look like new again!
