ok, I hope I don't get any ones feathers ruffled, I have searched but either my google foo is wack or everything vintage tire related is, well, vintage.....whats everybody running these days that doesn't have the giant sidewall graphics....?

I am old school and talking 26" here, and all my tires have different frt/rear tires such as IRC piranha pro kevlars [ wish I had a few more sets of these] and most have one tread pattern theses days [ exception WTP velociraptors but they have the giant graphics, even with the amazon pic showing the old style small graphic, that's not what ya get :-( ]

the smoke/dart reissues are hard to find[I did, but they are 150$ a pair] and they have a slightly different, ie: larger graphic as well........

but I am jonesing for a couple more sets of tires, however I cant find anything really in a new tire that is even similar unless it has the oversized graphics, and I hesitate to pay $100+ for 20 year old tires from the bay, so I am rehashing an beat to death topic to see what new tires everybody recommends ...........

thanks for your help

Re:

They come up on here and the bay. I bought some decent Ritchey zmax tyres just before Christmas for £12. When I see them I buy them as spares! :-D
Good luck!

You could buy the new tires that come closest to your ideal thread (minus the graphics). Wipe off the graphics with acetone. This new trend of slapping giant logos on everything is so annoying! Look at bikes and components now, it's a giant (color-coordinated) logo orgy.

that's what I've been trying to do, but recent searches are at 80$/100$ a pair and they are not even NOS, but I will keep looking :-)

The acetone won't affect the tire itself?

I'm probably going to try that real soon. Bought a pair of retro looking knobblies for my modern today and they have wite branding on them on the non-drive side.
