Tioga disc drive pro wheel - restoration?

Retro Guru
Hi all,

I have just received my TIOGA disc drive pro wheel (bright one). It generally needs a restoration as the laminated layer is a bit worn and matt. Does any of you guys have any experiences with it - is it a good idea to remove the outer / inner covers (what would mean disasembling) and laminate it again? Any ideas?

Cheers,
Martin

If it were me, I'd clean it [at most true it - carefully] and just ride it as is

If you're after one for a "Garage Queen" then I'd look out for a second NOS one 8) A couple have been built from scratch on here but I think servicing/dismantling the used ones would prove to be more trouble than they're worth.. But of course, that's just my opinion

IIRC the laminate layer does nothing structurally, the webbing holds it all together, and the laminate just keeps things free of rocks and sticks.

Looks fine to me.....at the end of the day its 10-15 yrs old

Be happy with the 'aged' look, and RIDE IT!

I gave up trying to clean my clear DiscDrive Pro so bought a blue standard one as well

Big thanks for replies and suggestions. I wished to make it shiny for a restored 1992 Attitude. I plan to paint and rebuilt the bike during this winter and though DiskDrive would be a nice period fit (especially as it has pink lettering matching the pink of horizon scheme). I have some time to think about it once again then.

Cheers,
Martin

And here is a good reason to respray it :(
Original painting scheme will stay I hope...
