Since I've acquired a certain thunderous Klein, I'd like to see any photos you might have of Tinker's Adroit race bike. The photos of the earlier ones from 1991-92 in Gator (Adroit & Rascal) would be nice too but the emphasis is on the Team Storm Adroit.

Any info about the bikes is much appreciated!

I know that in 1991 Tinker raced a rigid Adroit with Gator paintjob and Campagnolo components. At least early 1992 Tinker rode with Gator Rascal which was equipped with Campagnolo components and RS Mag 20 fork.

Did Tinker race this Storm model already in 1992 or only in 1993 ?

This is what I know about it:

Frame: 1993 Klein Adroit EX
Fork: Rock Shox Mag 21 (later Mag 21 SL/Ti)
Headset: Klein Precision
Stem: Klein Mission Control 1
Handlebar: Klein Mission Control 1
Grips: Ati Montane (mushroom design)
Brakes: Grafton Speed Controllers
Cantilever cable hangers: basic Shimano or Dia-Compe
Brake Levers: Graftron Re-Entry
Shifters: Shimano XTR with Graftron RF Pods
Front Derailleur: Shimano XTR
Rear Derailleur: Shimano XTR
Cassette: Shimano XTR
Chain: Sachs Sedis ATB
Cranks: Grafton Joysticks
Chainrings: ???
Bottom Bracket: Klein Precision Titanium
Pedals: Look MP90, later Look S2R Moab
Quick Releases: Ringlé Ti-Stix
Rims: Sun Chinook
Spokes: ???
Hubs: Ringlé SuperBubba, SuperEight
Tyres: Various, at least Tioga Psycho, Klein DeathGrip
Saddle: Avocet 02 Air (Flite in promo photos)
Seatpost: Ringlé Moby Post (Klein in promo photos)
Seatpost Binder: Ringlé CamTwist Ti
Bar Ends: onZa RAW-110 (OZ-120 in promo photos)
Bottle Cage: Ringlé H2O

Here are some photos that I've got:

Early pic - check out the road pedals!

This is the only pic where the bike has a thunder cloud -painted MC1, whereas in all the other pics, the stem/h-bar combo is black.

Here the original fork legs have been replaced with SL/Tis. Also purple onZa RAW barends instead of black OZs.

This is actually Sara Ellis, not Tinker. Her bike is 19", has dual Ringlé bottle cages, onZa Ti barends and seemingly a different fork. It looks like a Rock Shox Mag but the color is odd.

Sara's bike - same as above, in the hands of the hippies

A Great Project and a dead cert for a future BOTM!

The funny looking pedals would be a Campag OR branded version of the Look system that Tim Gould and David Baker rode when they were Peugeot pros. I have a road version which look similar. The only difference is the rubber 'grip' on the 'wrong' side. Somewhere on this site is a picture the Campag OR group.

Tinker used toe clips in the '90 season (when he used a Campag equipped tricolour Klein (Attitude??) for a while

I remember someone (was it Bontrager?) making steel blades for Rock Shox fork crowns? The forks in the photo are the right shape for Bontrger forks.

Yuk- the hippies have put a Vetta SL saddle at a quirky angle on Tinkers bike!

Well, I'm still pondering should I try to build this a "Tinker Replica" or put full XTR M900 + (rare) Klein seatpost & bottle cage into it...

I do have the XTR + Klein parts already waiting for the frame so that would be an easy and more affordable task.

The Race replica would be very expensive and also quite demanding to build, especially Grafton Re-Entry levers and RF pods don't exactly grow on trees!

was Tinker, Kleins best pro? or just the best profile? Was he the only pro male to ride for them? Cindy whitehead also rode for them?

v.nice project Kai :D cant wait to see it finished :)
rims I think weere sun CR17a, tyres do indeed look like psychos early on, probabily death grips later? no-ones going to check the spokes, thats probabily bordering on obsessive ;)

Well, Rishi Grewal rode for Klein from 1995 (or 1996?) to 200X and he's pretty good racer also. I think Tinker is well remembered because of his rough racing with full rigid Klein and later on the storm bike got attention too.

Cindy is Klein's all-time best known female rider. Sara Elias rode in Team Klein at least in 1993. Who she is and with what kind of bike did she race - I don't know.

That'll end up as one hell of a replica!

Looking forward to the finished product. You've got your work cut out for you.

Tinker was the best Klein rider by some way. Klein didn't have a 'team' in the same way that Yeti and others did. He was a regular in the top 10 at Grundigs (see the picture of him head to head with Tomac and Frischnecht) and in the other picture he is in the Norba leaders jersey.
He was quite popular and I am sure the cool bikes he rode had somthing to do with that?
