Spent the best part of a month trying to find a crank in the right colour, so today I just gave up, and got the rattle can's out and made a black crank white.

1st coat.......

just a little tip for next time, mask off the threads...makes life a lot easier later!

Might not want to get too much on those threads...

Some kind of clear plastic would probably stop the paint rubbing off instantly?

Yeah I was gonna do that for all the next coats, as there's going to be quite a few additional layers going on now,

Initially just wanted to see how it came out, and tbh, i'm quite happy with the initial results :D 8)

Well done. Glad i'm not the only one who paints kit if unable to find the right part
Looks good

What have you used to get the paint to stick?

Is there some sort of alloy etch primer available?

Just used automotive rattle can primer, I had a look for a zinc/etch primer, but to be honest I think this has done a decent enough job 8)

I didn't sand all the ano off either, so it wasn't entirely a direct spray on to raw aluminium.
