Go for DX thumbies if you can as the XT bolt is easy to sheer inside the clamp. I've got a NOS pair of DX on the 'dale and can't believe how crisp the shifting is especially on a commuter which to be honest only needs 2/3 gears for my normal run to work. I am planning to use it on the Caledonian Etape in May next year so I'll probably get to wear a few more cogs that day!!
