Hi
to work on old roadbike forks , looking for a threader / die ( is it the correct name ? ) and its handle.

looking for the 1 inch ( and 24 tpi) BSA standard

would not mind finding also the die for the old french standard  but wonder if many have crossed the channel !

the parktool one or cyclus one is too pricey for me I am afraid :?

Wonder if looking for a chinese "cheapo" is feasible or smart  :?:

I have started but the issue seems to be the standard ( 26 tpi seems to be found rather than the 24 tpi)

I posted the same request not long ago
You need one of these http://www.tracytools.com/taps-and-dies ... 1-x-24-tpi

and one of these http://www.tracytools.com/diestocks/2-o-d-diestock

Think I paid about £35 including postage. Used mine last week and was very pleased with the quality. It's well worth using some cutting fluid as well.

yes very reasonable

they mention a choice between type W/form or Unified
I confess dunno what is means ? can you enlighten me ?

thanks

You'll need the Unified form die...
This has a 60 degree angle between the faces of the threads, same as British Cycle Thread, rather than the slightly tighter 55 degree angle of the Whitworth one.

All the best,
