I shall mostly be riding from Morecombe to Bridlington on the 170 mile way of the roses. All on my 1990 Muddyfox Prestige Comp (setup temporarily as a flat bar tourer). Just a little nervous as I have never attempted anything like this before.

The Mrs is also coming along (she is on her 1998 GT Bravado), she has support and he kit is being carried by a family member.

Might keep this thread updated with our progress if people are interested.

60 miles down in 32 degree heat. Bike performed excellently, needed a tweak of the rear mech bit that's it. Brakes working well and stopping from above 40 m ph, thank god for the new aztec pads. Rider just about coping, drunk about 5 litres today of sports drinks to keep the salts up. Comfortable on the bike too. Another 60 miles tomorrow with slightly less harsh hills and it's going to be cooler a bit.

Re:

Good on ya fella, me and a couple of mates did a 50 mile round trip from York to Helmsley this morning and it was bloody hot.

but what a beautiful day 8)

So 120 miles in and a much easier day today. Still climbed a lot but it was early in the day and it was cooler too. I personally rode up every climb without any walking although the wife had to walk a fair bit and I stopped to wait for her at various points. The afternoon run was a total contrast and she led us for about 20 miles keeping up a pace where we averaged 17mph over the 20. Got into York at about 18:15 having started at 10:15. Bikes have been faultless today.

Just out of interest, what sort of weekly mileage, and type were you doing prior to this?

I subscribed to your thread quite soon after you first posted it - there may well be more interested in it, than is apparent.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Was doing 60-80 miles a week since April. That consisted of 3 trips to work of about 9 miles each way (nearly all off road), plus a weekender of 20-30 miles. Coped pretty well overall, settle hill was a killer and the only bit where I walked a bit, but to be fair baz77 has 22/32 gearing and only just made it and I'm on 24/28.
