Half right.
It fixes it locally, but for all pictures hosted on Photobucket, not just your own.

...and no one could have anticipated what Photobucket were going to do. Personally, I have hundreds of pictures hosted on Photobucket. I have changed host since they tried holding everyone for ransom, but I'm not going to go back and sort every one.
If a simple local fix means I can see all of my old images as well as everyone else's then that's more than cool with me.

If I click on Wadsy's signature links all the pics are still dead to me, as I've not install the widget thingy on Google. I'd be interested to see if anyone else who's now working on their own threads can see Wadsy's pics (common sense would lean me to think this should work)
If so it's a really good halfway house, local repair allowing those who are running the "Fix" to view previously dead threads, but for everyone else they remain locked...
basically a long winded way of saying Mr Bomb is right

Short answer- Yes.
If you use Chrome & have the extension loaded then you can see everyone's pix, not just your own. It is literally a 10 second job to load the extension & it looks like there may be other 'fixes' for the other web browsers.
Other than access issues on work PCs I can't see any reason not to load the extension.

That is a little concerning, but the chrome plug-in seems to be from the official Chrome Webstore so I'm guessing its not doing any more then a lot of browsers do- gathering analytics on your browsing patterns for targetted marketing. (Which you may, or may not, find acceptable).
