Thinking of Front Suspension for '94 Kilauea

Old School Hero
Not 100% sure so i haven't stuck it in the 'Wanted' yet, been out today in a large group and realised i might have to give in and buy some, 4 times off the bike in 3 hours gets a bit embarrassing (not helped by wearing SPD's for the first time either).
So....are there any decent retro ones ?
Elastomers, Spring things or Air ?
Will they alter the Geometry of the bike much ?
How much travel ?

Always said i'd never buy any but i have to face it i need 'em !

I really don't want to change the Geometry and not really looking for much travel, just enough to give me a bit more control. Something nice and light, for a 18" Steel frame, 1-1/8" threaded Headset, V-Brakes & easy to service. On a tight budget so as cheap as poss.

Any advice folks ?

They look ok to me, are they elastomers ? any idea of the amount of travel ?
Dont seem to have much luck on ebay anymore, reckon its you lot with your sniping tools that get the good stuff nowerdays

RC35's are elastomer based and offer around 50mm travel (if i recall correctly)

For your 94 model i'd go for either a RC35 or RC36. The 94 kileau is the white one yes? in which case id be tempted to go for a set of 1998 RC36 proclass with gold stanchions....they would just look super cool with the white frame.

Anyone have any experience of how do the older Pace forks (RC 35/36) compare with their later offerings (RC 38 etc) in terms of weight and performance?

Also, how do the RC35/36 compare to the Manitou 3/4 in terms of weight & performance?

Let me put it like this, I have a pair of RC36 Proclass evo's that I've had since 1998.

They're light, they're stiff and I'd never sell them.
