There'll be nowhere to ride pretty soon

Another thing, since when did we care about where we ride? Mountain Biking is supposed to be counter culture, non conformist! We have become too reliant on sanitised trail centres and can sometimes lack a sense of adventure. Open moorland, heath and down, the mountains of the Lake district, Pennine Hills, Scottish Glens...all criss crossed with perfect trails. They are all infinately better to ride in than some waymarked trail as dictated by someone with one eye on the latest H&S regs.

Strike out this weekend armed with a map and regain that sense of adventure. Along the way you may also find a sense of perspective regarding this sell off.

Come to Scotland ,we don't have this issue. The right to roam is enshrined in the Scottish psyche and woe betide anyone that tries to prevent it.
Local councils shy away from this one

Same goes for California, lots of open space and room to roam.

d sometimes out of bounds to the general public; certainly the case with my nearest FC sites, where trails are often shut and/or altered depending on where and how much felling is being done.

I actually quite like it when trails get moved. Adds to variety don't you know!

trail centre? not one anywhere near here.

we have one on the seafront...its very nice with a great view of the sea, sealions and fishing boats....nowhere to ride but a great view ...does that count

Never been to a trail centre, just ride the quantocks, more than enough there for me.

The quantocks is (If I remember correctly) national trust and therefore already out of government hands.

Phew!
