'The vintage mountainbike' FB group

Re:

I know there is the lockdown on age of bikes and good for it as it was becoming a mess for a vintage perspective.

Was that the fat short headtubed red thing. I saw your post too but I don't follow it other than for identifying interesting parts.

Best bit is you can create your own group. If you don't like how someone deals with things then you just in follow. It's not like here where it costs the Admins money and effort to keep everything running.
Facebook groups are easy, we run one for the Retrobike east Yorkshire lot which has spread to include and extended area of us numpties with an interest of old bikes. It is so much easier to organise rides on and contact people. It bloody horrible to have serious constructive chat... Yep worse than how we stray on here as nobody reads previous comments ;-)

I've had a few conversations in several forums about this and the basic gist is -for sale posts are getting pulled and then vendors are contacted in order to buy at below market price not allowing others to help amend the price or even see the item. There are a few other fb groups setting up as a consequence of the prevailing attitude. But hey it's a Sunday and after breakfast I'm out on a bike into wonderful countryside.

The admin didn't start the group. The duties were inherited from the original creator. The cut-off date"vote" was spread out pretty evenly between pre 96, pre 98 like here, and some fringe pre 85 loons. The admin voted pre 96, made it pre 96, and says that was how it was voted on by everyone when questioned on it.

Seen the deleting, as well as the cross posting with the Trading page (where you're supposed to put sale/wanted posts). Even if I have 3 of the wanted items sitting in the garage gathering dust, I'd rather sit on them.

Re:

I know that short hand over of control history and the cut off date, but that has nothing to do with what I was saying.

I wanted it to be pre 90s but maybe that more a UK interpretation of Vintage over the term Retro.

But like I said. Just unfollow as everything is posted on every damn vintage/retro group going.
