Looks like something the late Sheldon Brown would commute on. Macbook and Kodak pocket camera in rear bag - protected from the elements by a big fender (oh I meant mudguard), multiple handlebar positions etc.

From the eBay description I read that the shop/sales person just sold them a bike they wanted to, not read the brief and sold the bike they needed. South downs, roads, charity ride, tall upright position - here have this full sus marin and we'll try and make it work for you....

Many of the used bikes I've bought over the years seem to be adorned with all that 'stuff'.
I take great pleasure in removing it all and making the bike look normal once again

Yep, same. Got a garage full of the stuff!

I'll raise the stakes on the ugliest Marin though......

Looks like owner was told "this is the biggest one you can get..." and then had to do what he could with little knowledge. In nice nick, but well over-priced.
