The Shed Thread

Your wish is my command..

As you enter the property.. it's carpeted, to your left, you will see a cast iron Petromax BBQ and melting domes, atop a home made BBQ table with a massive piece of reclaimed roofing slate.. dehumidifier.. Webber charcoal, electrical hook-up, original artwork, Gransfors Bruk axe and a teak garden chair.. there is a light in the ceiling and it has internet connection.

I have a wood shed at the end of the garden

..but burning hardwood logs is just not economically viable, they look nice and make the living room cosy but it's cheaper to put the heating on.. so i fill the shed up with free softwood blocks from work over the summer and mix them 50/50.. i've moved the bags out of the shed for the photo.

Love it 😍 the fact it appears you can only see the front of the shed adds to the charm.
I hear you re the logs. I miss the days of being site based, where I could come home with bags of soft and hardwood offcuts most weeks

Thanks,

The front gets all the sun so i give it a lick of Osmo oil every few years.. i like where the iron nails have rusted and the rust has bled down the wood grain..

The fascia is floorboarding so i made a bit of trellis at work by drilling some holes in 1/4" ply with a forstner bit, shaping the outside on the bobbin sander and slotted it into the groove.

Here's mine. A bit of a mess right now as I am clearing out stuff and selling. I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff as I'm done collecting and all my bikes are my favorite rider's.

Our "shed" is our garage, or would be a garage if we didn't have 90% of the stuff, stacked in the space and drove an old Mini or MX5.

It began life looking like this,

This was the very beginnings of moving in after retirement.

A few days and a large moving truck later,

Some time has passed,

Some more time passes and a grandson arrives and grows enough to need play space. The driveway becomes a playground.

The 2010 Specialized Roubaix, Expert, Triple, finds work on a smart trainer.

More time passes and the motorcycle exists,

After 15 years and more than 50,000km the Roubaix leaves the stable,

Replaced by my dream bike.

2025 Pinarello F7 Ultegra Di2, 4iiii powermeter. just under 10,000km on the clock this year.

The work bench is prioritized,

A more than 20-year old Rancillio Silva restored to function along with a Rocky grinder. The end of a baseball bat is at the perfect fit to tamp the 18g basket. Small compressor on the bench with Park inflator tool for near daily bicycle use.

At present there remain quite a lot of stuff to remove from the area and a good bit more to organize. Those two actions being continual. I clear a space only to return and find it occupied. Usually by about twice as much as was cleared.
