The right way to be a boss and share money

Some people are never happy.

I don't know the detail but the guy looks near retirement age and is selling his business. Putting two and two together I'd guess starting a new company isn't high on his list of priorities.

If you have that sort of money its not like you do all the legwork, you basically say...i shall start a transport business headhunt all the top staff at your previous business and let it run itself.

Even if it fails and runs at a loss the end result is the same thing...you've given away your money. If instead it succeeds well then it continues to give away money over a longer period.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, build a new company and a man can work for a living and buy lots of fishys.

Anyway I'm not against it at all, its a refreshing change it just seems like a missed opportunity. I did like the way he scaled the bonus based on time served i thought that was a nice touch.

I think that's hopelessly naive. There's a reason retirees put their money in stock and property markets rather than new businesses.

Are we discussing the same person? he gave it all away he didn't put it anywhere near the stock market or property market.

Most retirees don't have that sort of cash to retire on either, so your point is pretty much moot.

Not it's not. I'm talking about business owners retiring, and my point is that whether they give it away or invest in stocks or property they are doing something with much much less hassle than running a business. Which is presumably why they're retiring/selling up in the first place.
