The RB what I bought/ found/scrounged this week thread pt.II

Re:

No,

The paint on top near the clamp weld was for some suspect reason re-done and so I had to remove that paint to see why, I didn't want to ride it with a hidden crack, the welds all seem fine but it appears that somebody has done terrible job of repainting, dribbles and thin paint means this would not be clear-coat Gas Monkey Garage effort and will be repainted in a fitting colour for the purpose of which it was purchased.

There's patina and there's too far gone....

Re:

So having freed up some space this happened
Purchased & scurried away to the workshop, perhaps a potential build for the other half?
Either way I wasn't gonna see it in the metal bin!

Re:

Latest bargain, some odd parts but pretty good for £17.
Unfortunately frame is terminal...
But the Marzocchis and LX bits make up for it.

Re:

A trip to the dark side for me. Most of what I collect is of the road variety. If it were not for this forum I would have had no idea what this bike is, left out in the cold and rain at a local auction I couldn't leave it there! A quick picture minus wheels as soon as I could smuggle it in to the cave. Full Exage Mountain throughout even the pedals, not the best groupset but worth leaving as it is all original to the bike. Years of lack of use and a good covering of sticky grease on almost every surface have left it in great condition with only really new cables and a thorough clean required. I'm no good at build threads but will endeavour to post something once I get going.

1 1/8" alloy Klein stem cap.

Just a shame it was only attached to a bonty stem :(
