so can anyone recommend me a free (and clean) simple converter where i can just copy a url from YT, paste in into a converter, it'll parse the link, and transfer the mp3 to iTunes?

There are loads if you just type Youtube mp3 into a search engine, some are better than others, some have popups and crap. That is one of the ones I've been using these last few months or:

Just sometime a track or two might have a problem but it is very rare, also be sure you have the actual URL of the track you want and not a playlist. Sometimes I will find a track in a playlist then just search for the name or artist of the track.
I'm lucky, I started converting/ripping mp3 in the 90's and still have all my original tracks and all the ones I've added over the years, backed up on many drives in case of any fail.
