The Noisy Neighbours....

Well I've got to say that city thoroughly deserved that result.
They totally exposed where United are lacking. We've got no bite or creativity in midfield, and a defence with Ferdinand in just looks dodgy.
And, as good as Rooney is, I'm sick of seeing him taking the ball from the centre back in our own half.
The city players wanted it far more today and it showed.

That said, it's only one game and we've been here before and fought back.
Enjoy the result lads, but watch you dont get hit in the face when we throw in the towel

It is easier to write it off as a bad day at home than accepting City are now at the level they have been threatening for a while, and are genuine contenders for a double this season.

Or even winning their 19th title or 11th cup?

I don't get the point. We can win as many titles as you like, but there is always the chance another team will grow the balls to contend, and I think City are looking superb now. I see it as great for football, and especially great for Manchester. No lose situation in my opinion.

Were United to continue to dominate long term, it would shoot English football in the foot.

I am sure Sir Alex gave Mancini a pat on the back and shared a nice bottle of wine, in a much warmer gesture than any Wenger or Mourinho would have enjoyed.

When you are quality you always welcome quality opposition, it is the way to improve and if we or City are to get consistent in Europe we need to be thrashing each other regularly.

Mon City!

Merlin waved his wand today for sure, his pass for the 6th goal was created by trapping the ball momentarilly (in the air) and purposefully passing to himself (in the air) in order to volley that pass inch perfect in a way that virtually ensured anything in blue running onto it was a knocking bet to score. It would be hard to immitate if you was allowed to bowl the ball crown green stylee without being pressured..a Cryuff turn moment. Utd bid £22mill at him but retracted it after discovering City had left a £10mill more than anybody else wants to pay bid standing on the table. The thing is about the 19 titles is they wer'nt won when City had the $s and so count for little amongst fans, it's a line Liverpool use on everybody but personally i would'nt swop all thier history for half of our tomorrows. Whiskey nose said 'never in my lifetime would City start favourites in a Manchester Derby', today they were the shortest odds ever and come the 35th game this season at our place it will be intresting to see the betting.

The 'who's the scouser in the wig' song made me  , though to be fair without him UTD would have looked like a mid-table team, Vincents got his number.

You're funny.

So Man Utd's titles don't count for anything because City didn't have the money to buy a team? Maybe my memory has gone but Leeds, Newcastle, Blackburn and Chelsea all threw money at breaking the Man Utd dominance. With only Chelsea getting anything back in terms of long term success.

And you wouldn't swap your future for Man Utd or Liverpool's history?

Bollocks.

Thought you only understood very short sentences :?

I think you may be getting your own opinion mixed up with mine r kidmund, it's absokutely futile to mention Leeds, Newcastle and outer Mongolia to a Manc...cause they could'nt give a flying what they been upto, they aint been in the olde 3rd division with 28k turning up... ever. Now we've got the money so it's easy for a numb head that only understands some very short sentences to see once parity is acheived then it's a case of 'game on'.

It is certainly game on but there is no reason to lose respect for all the other teams that were once in City's cash strapped position.

Saying that again, it is not just cash of course.

If it was Chelsea would be dominant already.

The difference is that City have history and tradition and, on current evidence, plenty of heart.

I am happy because it gives a lot of people a lot of pleasure, and that is what football should be about, not just the money.

I don't actually give a toss about how the tribal nature of Manchester football works.

But I respect what United, or more accurately Alex Ferguson, have done. Yes they have spent money but that was money that has come from success.

Man City are so far behaving like a lottery winner in Harrods and contributing to the potential future downfall of the EPL along with other clubs. The weekly wages at a few EPL clubs are alarming. And with ten clubs being owned by foreign investors they better hope that the bubble doesn't burst in terms of interest.

Looking at the long game.

Having lived in manchester and indeed having a good section of my family still in manc land, it is good to see city fans having the bragging rights, esp given the abuse they have had to endure over the years- and i am a united fan (after kilmarnock of course).

Whats this ^ spot the obvious?

That would pre-presume somebody don't repect what they've done.....which is very different to what they've done not having much relevence to the right here right now. Don't take my word for it, watch the scream go up at Liverpool if they fail to get in the top 4 money pot, tell the Trafford fans walking out of the stadium with 20mins to go that it dont matter cause of all the silver ware you've won in the past 'me arse'.

You're very correct, money is now evil....specially when we've got some.

Given their total dominance of the modern game, it would be odd to suggest anything about United is not relevant in the 'here and now'.

At least wait until they have won nothing for two or three seasons to claim that.

:)
