The Mountain Biking Handbook 1988- the bike of the future...

Aha- more memories! I remember thumbing through that book in my LBS one rainy Saturday. I almost bought it but the Dayglo pink Local Motion corner bag got my pocket money that day instead. Wish I'd bought the book now!

We all had one of those once didn't we? All that extra comfort when carrying the bike over your shoulder..... Unless you had tools in it (like it was meant to do when it became more uncomfortable

That Kestral doesn't look much like the 10" huckster ironwork currently in fashion does it. Back then lighter and faster was the way forward. Now its heavier and stronger.

that kestral is far from light!

Its probably still halfway up a hillside in Grasmere just below Harrison Stickle if you want it. It was looking pretty tired before it went under my rear wheel. I have bee looking for another for about a year now to go with the NOS Mt. Zefal pump that's going on my Dale.

I've got some very fetching bright orange "Cosmic Trail" pads!!
One is a handlebar pad and the other an ingenius design for a toptube pad that also runs up the extension post of the stem, making steering a potentially lethal affair (but who needs steering anyway....right?)

They're currently used to cosily wrap non-drive side crankarms, etc to keep them safe when not in use....
