What is the current "in thing"?

I've got a cheap although reasonable'ish mtb kicking about that I want to get rid off. I'm looking to convert it to a SS or perhaps a 1x7, personally I prefer the current trend of minimalism and am hoping that this will help me get top dollar for it. What do you think?

the word that seam to work on e-bay are 'retro' or 'pista' single speed or fixie seam to work quite well as well.

Top dollar is selling it off in parts, unfortunately.

It's a great hobby, but building bikes to sell bikes won't make you money, otherwise lots of people would do it.
