I still really enjoyed that era though. Lemond, Fignon through to Indurain and his competitors. I think I slowly started to lose interest slightly when Riis beat Indurain.

I still followed the big tours and even went to the ToB a couple times. For me though, that was peak racing.

I believe "doping" of some sort has been occurring in competitive for nearly 150 years!
I always preferred sabotage of another's equipment over screwing with my body. Ottavio Pratesi (the victim) is a favorite story regarding malicious manipulation of equipment.
