The Firemountain that thinks it's a Lavadome

Next on the project clear out is this tired 1992 Firemountain frame which needs a spruce up. First up is to give it a good clean and see what i'm working with.

Gave it a wash then a quick sand down, forgot to take photos coz i was in a rush to spray it, never done this before so no idea how it will turn out it's being the guinea pig for painting
But the rust was just surface and couldn't see any dints or damage so on went some primer. I'm dead impatient and want to spray it now and have some fun but most things i've read say should leave for 24hrs to dry

Some stickers i've had lying around for ages, certainly not upto Gils standard but they'll do. The seatube one says titanium, a titanium Lavadome

Saying i'm impatient i stuck one side of the stickers on, the paint wasn't tacky to touch so it'll do for me I'd masked over the TBG sticker on the seatube to save it.

Other side done and the titanium sticker applied to let everyone know its a posh Lavadome

Had a bit of fun with the Rockshok Jets and sprayed the crown black and splatted everything with some green paint then put some lacquer on, reminds me of the Cannondale M800 i think. Also i noticed the stanchions were black so off went the boots and i prefer them without them looks much better. Maybe there blackbox forks from back in the day

And now the frame, that sort of didn't go to plan as i hoped splatting it The plan was to use some of my illuminous paint on it and splat it with the toothbrush method like the 90 Lavadome. Turns out the paint was so thin it just kept going on like a mist and not bigger splats, hence the way it looks. But after adding the green what i used on the forks and put some lacquer on,it looks canny in a way

Frame and forks together,i like the look with the black stanchions.
Think i might either gonna go flat bars with that stem or short stem with those bars, can't decide.

It looks much better in daylight now i've seen it. I'm thinking black rims black spokes black hubs,need to splat those Joe Murray stickers though.
