The end of religion??

The main reason formal religion has caused so much trouble is the didactic nature of it; the constant struggle to assert one form of belief as the truth, superior to another, highlighting differences rather than similarities.

Putting forward arguments that non belief is an indicator of some form of superiority is falling into the same trap.

Richard Dawkins has turned anti-theist argument into a money spinning belief system in a couple of decades.

He has given succour to the vast swathe of spouters who are too lazy to look further into their nihilism before asserting their own personal 'truth'.

Without wanting to start a war, you are talking bollocks.

Well all you are doing is suggesting you have an overwhelmingly convincing point of view, so much so you feel it is much fairer to belittle mine than share yours.

Is the 'you are just wrong' arguement (sic) not supposed to be the preserve of those who have blind faith?

You put forth a totally unproven and frankly ridiculous notion that people of 'greater intelligence' tend to have less faith.

Crap.

Actually this is a well studied area and the overwhelming evidence is that as IQ increases, religious belief or 'faith' decreases.

I'm not going to go trawling the net to find quotes or sites to back me up, I'll let you do that on your own.

I'm not saying that one belief system is any better than the other but its a studied phenomenom that those with higher intelligence are more likely to be athiest. Make of that what you will.

Why on earth would I be interested in trawling the net to find evidence for something I have no interest in?

You are the one saying the facts back you up. You are just not interested in providing them.

I will regard your views in that context.

cyclist is a great religion!
is that nature is our god? cant moan at that. that is not looking into too far but still giving it some thought

i often think the world and all is too much for the human race to comprehend

That is more or less the way I think!

I am much more interested in the things I have in common with people than the endless speculation on the tiny differences!
