the DEAN Colonel of my friend Andrea

also Andrea is not sure of the meaning of the SS, he wrote to DEAN a few years ago for the confirmation of the production year and model because also the cable passages and rear dropouts are different to other bikes he had seen (they had the letter P) , other differences were the height of the seat tube C / F

Wild guess: SS stands for Sandvik Sweden as that was where they got the titanium for the early bikes?

Plausible..
But where did DEAN source the titanium for mine then..?

BTW: what's special about the dropouts on your friend's bike?

yours definitely Sandvik as it arrived at my place in a big Sandvik cartboard box. ;-) And some of the early frames (I know because each and every Dean frame that was sold in the BeNeLux between 1994 and 1997 passed through my hands - I worked as a salesman for the importer  ) had a big "Sandvik" decal on the stays.
