I did have a hole in my head superglued at A&E -

STILL dont wear a helmet

never have - doubt if I ever will, unless it becomes law.

A soul mate :D I only wear for racing. (and the odd retroride meet) But the catch has broken on my cash hat.

cash hat is that a crash hat for rich people ?

I don't get it guys...why no helmet? Modern lids are lightweight, well vented and most importantly strong. I have a couple of friends (both road and mtb riders) who would be in a very sorry state or dead if it hadn't been for a good helmet. :(

Suppose I am fairly anal. Always wear a lid (don't understand the people that don't, but each to their own), always carry a first aid kit and am pretty well-trained in first aid. The most important things I have learnt are more what NOT to do, rather than rushing in and trying to fix things.

Always always always carry a phone, always. Keep a knackered old one if you don't want to take your shiney squillion pound video phone thingy with you on the hills.

Sorry if this is aimed at any of you (having a grumpy day I'm afraid!), but I never understand the family groups where kids are safely lidded up, but M&D are not. I just wonder what happens to those kids if M&D get killed?

Perhaps I should clarify...

People who wear no helmet either ignore the risks or are blissfully unaware of them. Either of which is ok by me... it's your life/death/wheelchair... I may dissaprove but your actions are not my concern.

People who ride obstacles and jumps really should have an idea of their own abilities and the consequences of their actions. Just because someone else rides them and gets away with it doesn't mean you will. If someone ruins themselves on obstacles I ride and the obstacles are taken down I will be very upset - your muppetry has just cost me my fun.

Adults without helmets + kids with = a poor example.

I don't understand not waring a helmet.

I'd be dead now if I'd done that, they've saved my life on more than one occasion.
