mavic's crossmax line run their freehub body on a faintly absurd delrin bushing. has anybody had any joy replacing this? i think mine is on the way out

if i were to pull my wheel apart and check it out, might anyone be able to locate a potential replacement that's cheaper than a whole new freehub? or any more permanent solutions?

any thoughts or experiences would be welcome right now!

What is the inside diameter, outside diameter, and width of the bushing?

There is a good chance that a proper rolling bearing can be found to replace it.

i dont have a freehub to hand - anyone got one kicking around they can measure up

also, does anyone know if a modern ksyrium freehub will fit an early crossmax - seen some good prices on these on t'bay

ok - i had mine apart and it appears the axle wasnt actually connected in the middle - i managed to pul it out with my bare hands without unscrewing it anyhoo - slightly alarming that the only thing holding my rear wheel together during the 200-odd miles i've done on these since i got them was the skewer :s

I wouldn't count on interchnageability with Mavic bodies. I have a set of Xmax XL's and tried a Ksyrium freehub body. They look almost identical, but it will not fit up. There are several different part numbers for these freehub bodies, and these two at least are fractions of millimeters different internally.

Where's the sense in that I wonder...

Enjoy!!

im sorry to say but thats mavic for ya they wll always screw you over on spare's and there isn't much you can do but go with it there hubs are bilt so cheap its shocking the road ets are composite ie plastic its a joke there still making hubs. but there rims are the nutts work that one out     :x
