About this time last year I decided that retro really wasn't working out and so decided to sell my Hei Hei and my CK.

What replaced them was wholeheartedly modern - Cotic Soul, Pipedream & Swift.

Now a year on I find myself doing the same but with both modern and retro bikes.

I have sold my Swift, Pipedream and am looking to sell my recently built up Saracen.

Perhaps retro is not for me :( perhaps bikes are not for me

Perhaps its just a thing........

Anyone else experience similar?

It's the same with wimmin, is it not?
Try a few out, take them for a ride, discard some and take up with others.
When you find the "right" bike, you KNOW!
It's just like getting married, except you don't get nagged into an early grave.
So, you've discarded the mature beauties in favour of nubile young slappers, been around the block a bit, had your fun, and you've finally seen sense.
Admit it, you can't beat slinging your leg over the mature type of model you lusted after as an eager young man.
Go on, get youself a bit of old, before you're too old. :P

Perhaps and older model would cure the feeling

Just don't tell Mrs LMTTM

I think its all part and parcel of being 'really into' anything, be it bikes, cars, watches, art etc. Sometimes I look out of the window at the pouring rain and turn around and look at the row of bikes and classic cars and think to myself 'why?'

I had a big sell off of bikes and cars earlier in the year and felt much better for it- less baggage.

Sometimes removing the burden gives you perspective. Makes you remember just what you enjoyed or hated about whatever it was you had. You can then look with fresh eyes and act accordingly.

I'm now down to a few old bikes and two modern ones and enjoying ownership and riding again. I'm also down to just two cars, both of which I will be selling in the spring to make way for something that i truely want.

As the Blue Oyster Cult once said- 'Don't fear the Reaper'...let them go, take a step back, regain your focus and move forward.

Si
