TFTuned 98 SIDs

These are Tim Flooks old forks. No doubt they will have been looked after well.

Hence TFTuned, yes. Slightly wrong in as much as these are built from NOS spares (apparently) and are not used. Apparently Flooks hoovered up a lot of RS spares when Caratti went under.

So these would be still a good buy then??

These are effectivley NOS 98 SIDs. So if you're after 98 SIDs I'd say yes. They are good forks but not without caveats...

I didn't know they did black ones as early as 98. The original 1.17kg ones were supposed to be even flexier than later ones, weren't they? Is that what you mean by caveats?

Memory escapes me whetehr they did 1998 SIDs in black for OEM. I know black was available OEM only in 1999.

Caveats? Yes, they were flexy due to short lower casting and wafer thin bushings. Would assume TFTuned might have put the longer bushing in this fork which'd make it slightly less flexy. They were also prone to loosing air via the seals at the base on the neutral shafts, Caratti recommended sealing the neautral shafts from the main air chambers using bits of plastic cut from Judy elastomer seperators. As per all Rock shox from this era they also need regular maintenance although the uprated seals should help in this.
