Did my first Commute Monday and cant quite decide if I enjoyed it or not. 12 miles each way tipical cotswold hills nearly 1000 ft of continous climbing in last 7 miles there :?

what do you do? :D

I take the car, my 22 mile round trip is 90% on a very busy dual carriageway which is really a continuation of the M62 and there have been quite a few cyclists killed and injured in the past years. I do a pretty physical job too and doubt I would have the energy to ride home :(

I only commute 1.5 miles, into town... Have to take the car as I use it on rounds during the day...

Sad I know, the traffic is so bad I can do it in a few minutes on the bike, 15-40 in the car in morning traffic...

Walk to either of the local train stations which is five mins max either way. Hop on the train to Victoria which takes about 16 mins, push my way through hoardes of commuters and tourists, swearing as I go and kicking several of those bloody trolley things* (*depends how busy it gets and how many gormless morons are in front of me!). Hope on the Tube to Sloane Square ("darling sweetie darling.."..) walk to work from there which takes about ten mins. Easy.

Have commuted on the bike which takes about 40 mins door to door but the route takes me through two really REALLY nasty areas in regards to trucks, lorries and buses etc.... I don't think it's worth putting my life on the line. Looking into alternative routes.

I do 14 miles each way once a week. Leave my work clothes etc at work the previous day. No showers at work so I have to basin wash in the disabled toilet. Takes me an hour to get their but 45mins to get home due to a nice and steep long (3miles) hill close to work.

Most days just 4 miles - I park my car at ededwards house and then ride. Nice gradual hill going in for part of the way and a steeper one coming back but nothing remotely serious.

I like to have a good run down the hill coming back and go as fast as possible - if there is a cyclist or two in front that adds a bit of challenge and i feel ridiculously disappointed if they turn off before I catch them.

Only down side is the occasional creepy git who sits on my back wheel going up the hill so he doesn't have to work ( not referring to Ed by the way!) -bad form in my book to sit on the back wheel of stranger, particularly a woman!

Occasionally in the summer I cycle from home - 14-17 miles depending on route and very hilly!

tube for 35 mins then walk down Whitehall or wait for the number 11 bus for 3 stops. BUT plans are being made and i'll soon be back on two (skinny) wheels

2.5 miles uphill to get there . i do it 4 times a day as work split shifts .

2/3 on quiet country lanes and 1/3 off road .

and I do it everyday , whatever the weather . in 5 years at current job , took the car 3 or 4 times .

.

Roll out the front gate and continue rolling for 3.5 miles to work, wether it be bike, scooter or car. As you can imagine getting home on the bike is not quite as much fun as going in :D
I genuinely don't have to pedal for more than 100m to get to work 8)
Begs the question why do I only ride about 3 times a month
