Scored yet another bike which has seen very little use. Definitely not any offroading, that's for sure. Wanted it mostly for the minty bits on it for which I plan to strip and place onto other build projects.

But before doing so, I decided to document this lovely specimen to share with fellow RB members here. As well as gather some info from you regarding it.

The shifter/brakes, drivetrain and wheelset is XTR M900 and in tip top condition. rims and tires are suberb Mavic m231 36h and dart/smoke folding combo. XT front mech and flat pedals rounds out the group.

All the rest of the parts seem to be Wheeler branded parts. Of interest is the one piece stem/bar combo in 1.25" flavour with a diacompe aheadset.

I've shared the pics, now share what you know of the brand and it's quality! ;)

My friend was sponsored by Wheeler in the UK, I had the only full sus frame in the country after he'd worn it out.

cant find the model on bikepedia - it was full M739 with cable disks and Marzocchi Bombers

popular in the early 90's here in Austria. friend of mine still has his Wheeler (7000ish) - splatterpaint as far as I remember, with full XT kit, and also those wheeler branded parts.

Taiwanese brand / made ? distributed via the INTERSPORT shops

so what's the quality of the frame/fork and branded parts? is this frameset desirable/collectible? i only see a few Wheeler bikes here on RB.

am i doing this frameset wrong stripping it for parts? would someone here want the frameset and associated branded parts—frame, fork, hs, stem/bar, seatpost, seat?

Wow, that really is in timewarp condition, makes me feel all nostalgic....

I always thought Wheeler sounded so American, didn't realise they were from Germany.
