Team Marin - Fluted down tube - now with pics

As you undo the crank bolts they should pull the crank off....undo with an 8mm allen key by the looks of it until you feel resisitance then keep undoing......if they are not siezed they should pull off

look for cracks round the seat tube bb area. a mate of mine had one and it cracked there. funnily enough his post was stuck in too.

8) an eclectic one right enough, that be great to see it restored with what you've got and with some extra mods :) looks like it was a right gear heads bike 8)

Thanks for the advice . Had a look and there don't appear to be any cracks :)

4. Fork completely dead - the right side drop-out has sheared off, the bridge is missing, and no oil at all - other than that in good condition . May look for a similar fork or parts to rebuild this one.

If you ever wanting rid, hint hint, keep me in mind.

I quite like the fork, it fits with the geometry of the bike, so my first thought is to try to re-build, going to have to do some research as I've got plenty of time. Do you think this is do-able for a non-expert as I'd obviously have to source a new leg and bridge first?

If I decide it's not on, you'll have first dibs on the fork

Not to hard to rebuild passe......but finding a leg without a broken dropout my be a bit difficult.... :?

You are perfecly capable*. Main stumbling block will be holding the air.
If they do that things are easier.
If you need some instructions give me a shout.

*I reserve the right to conclude I was wrong ;)

Marin

Yep definately a Marin team issue from 1992
I owned and raced on BITD came with the xtr groupset and yes that strangely fluted down tube come to think
should have dayglo yellow lettering on it and the Tange Prestige sticker at the BB end of the seat tube also what they call a castellated head tube where there are square flanges to top and bottom
enjoy I still regret selling mine

I have a marin lite forged stem if youre interested 1 1/8" ,quill, several dents
Most of the scratches would polish out but there is a couple of chips/dunts on the top that i dont think would come out[stickers]
Happy to swop for something :D

That could be one very nice project, certainly a huge bonus to have the cranks/mechs and brakes, especially the brakes :D
Sell nobody nothing till you know whats what
