Tange switchblades

I'm only saying it is Bontragers design because it, Tange and the RS1 and the Patent all have a happy coincidence in looking identical ;)

oh and 1997 Tange Catalogue, still going strong. Still no actual mention of using 'Prestige grade' tubing.

I'm confused... I looked on the internet and everywhere I surf they tell the same: Bontrager designed a fork in 1987. The crown design is used on his own fork and on the RS1.

The crown I showed is really different and more plain and simple and flat on top. I know that later on Tangé made Switchblades with the Bonti crown, but what about the beefy straight one which I only know from Tangé Switchblades (1989) ?

Hmmm.. the question of Kaiser just was about being Prestige...

I knew Bontrager made or designed some, but I thought that Tange made their own with the heavy crown. I thought Bontrager made/designed the lighter ones.. and than collaborated with Tangé to have 'm made later on...

thanks for the info
The crown on my Bonty's is pretty heavy and totally solid, lacking any machining to lighten it.. Apart from being black, it looks very similar to the Tange, including the four bolts.

mvd, well Bontrager Comps (from a search, but use Google image* ) had chromed legs.. I think the main part was the canti mounts had a band around the leg (for example on salsa a la carte 1991).

someone like Scant will be along to set us all straight, but been fun looking.

* you'll find all sorts, chromed, different crowns, bonty badged crowns with Tange Prestige legs....

It'll probably depend on the model in a range if there was some, as chances are in the real world Tange made the forks for Bontrager except some of the high end models (i.e. outsourced like many things where and still are

Yup...chromed legs, machined brake mount band and machined dropouts bonded into the legs..
